4. A good book or five.
5. Sunglasses
6. A water bottle that's good at keeping liquids cold for a long time!

9. Salt spray for your hair if you like the beachy wave look.
10. Snack bars to stay energized.
11. Cash on hand just incase, since you're probably in an unfamiliar area.

A little love never hurt anyone!

Good Afternoon my LALAlovelies,

I sat down to paint my nails yesterday but I had no clue what to do with them. Luckily a good friend of mine was sitting next to me and saved me by showing me a picture from Pinterest of some pink nails with a little white heart on each ring finger. I know Valentine's Day is over but I couldn't resist this cute and feminine nail design so I thought I'd share it with all of you! I used Orly's Rage as the main rose gold color and Essie's Marshmallow for the little white accent heart!

I hope you all enjoy and are having a great weekend :)

LALAlinks

Today's LALAlinks are devoted to 3 of my favorite bloggers.

1) The Daybook - One of my favorite fashion/beauty/lifestyle blogs. Sydney's style and humor is the perfect combination for a great blog. You have to go check her out!

2) Kendi Everyday - I love Kendi's blog because her posts are short and sweet but always funny and stylish.

3) Veronika's Blushing! - If you're a working girl, look no further. Veronika's J-Crew-esque, classic style will give you plenty of ideas on how to look appropriate yet still stay stylish in the office.

If you're experiencing the winter storm that we have been, make sure to stay toasty warm and safe! Have a great weekend :)

Skinny Tuesday?

I think anyone would be lying if they said they weren't looking forward to Fat Tuesday. I personally love to use it as an excuse to eat things I normally wouldn't but I always find that I feel gross and regret it after I do. Not to mention for most college students spring break is right around the corner so we're here with a solution! We've made a list of 10 things you can do that won't kill you calorie wise, but still allow you to indulge in your sweet tooth.

1) Buy a specialty coffee instead of a normal brew.
2) Pour a little spoonful of sugar over your cereal (Rice Krispies are my favorite to do this with)
3) Make cookies but instead of keeping them to yourself, give away all but two so you won't be tempted to eat them!
4) Cocoa roasted almonds are a great way to get the chocolate taste without the sugar.
5) Add a few extra M&M's or candy of your choice to your trail mix.
6) Grapefruit with sprinkled with brown sugar
7) Hummus! What more can I say?
8) A small piece of dark chocolate never hurt anyone
9) Add hot sauce to your popcorn. Trust me.
10) Spice up for hot cocoa with a little bit of cinnamon.

Eat responsibly!

February Favorites

Here in Michigan we're experiencing the effects of a very confused Mother Nature. Some days we have blizzards and others I can walk outside in a light jacket. All this is doing is making me too excited for spring. It can be very hard to dress for this kind of weather, so my current fashion has been a blend of winter and spring looks. Hopefully some of my tips can help you transition your winter wardrobe into a springone!

1. A good friend of mine gave me an infinity scarf for Christmas and I would not be exaggerating to say that I've worn it at least every other day since. It's a very light blush tone scarf with specks of rose gold glitter knitted it. Props to Emily for picking a scarf that couldn't be more me. I love that it's really chunky and only long enough to wrap around my neck once. It's an easy way to add some warmth in this weird weather.

2. I've been really changing up my makeup recently and going a little darker. My go to look is a bronze smokey eye using Smog by Urban Decay as the main color. The darker look keeps my makeup looking winter appropriate.

3. I can't get enough of these Old Navy The Rock Star jeggings. I have them in gray, black and dark denim, but I can't stop wearing the black ones.

4.The Baby Lips chapstick by Maybelline is another one of my current faves. They smell good and really do make my lips feel baby soft! (That sounds creepy to say...) I never leave the house without it incase some unexpected cold wind tries to make my lips chapped. Look for some beauty tips in the next week involving this and February Fave number 6!

5. Since I've been really busy lately I really have been loving loose tops that double as stylish and comfortable, like the one shown above. When I'm running late in the morning it's nice to be able to throw something on that you know you don't have to fuss with.

6. Shocker! I'm in love with Revlon Lip Butters. I'm obsessed with the deep Raspberry colors. In the past I haven't been someone who wears colored lip products on a regular basis, but I find myself wearing these at least half of the week! They are the perfect amount of moisture and color. Some are more sheer than others so they're great if you aren't big on dark lipstick. I think I'm really going to like the brighter shades as well to brighten up my normally darker winter makeup, in the next coming weeks.

7. I recently purchased a faux leather jacket at Forever 21 that I adore. It was such a great deal and I've already worn it a bunch of times. If you don't own one, I highly recommend looking into getting one. It's especially nice for this time of year to be able to darken up an outfit that has a brighter or more spring-like color.

8. My favorite way to transition my winter wardrobe into spring is to add a fun tank to my winter jacket, cardigans, and jeans. A tank in a bright color or pattern is the perfect way to jazz up a darker outfit. I personally love tribal prints because they remind me of a lot of the fun clothing I wore as a kid.

Overall, I try to keep my outfits darker to still fit the winter mood, but I add a few bright pieces, such as a fun top or a brighter lip color, to give a little bit of a spring touch. What are your favorite items during this tricky weather transition?

8 tracks

Since we've gotten positive feedback before about our sharing playlists, we decided to open an 8 tracks account in order to share more of them with you. Now you can listen to the songs below without having to leave LALAland! This Sunday I'm spending the whole day studying for an exam, so I thought I'd share some of my favorite study music with you. I picked a few songs from some of the artists I love to listen to when I need to cram. Enjoy and have a great week!

LALAlinks

1) Sometimes I discover a new blog and check my Bloglovin' account like a spaz, waiting for new posts to pop up. J's Everyday Fashion is the current one that I can't get enough of! I love how every outfit comes with an inspiration picture from magazines, ads, or celebrity photos.

2) P.S. I made this... is a fantastic website if you're into fashion inspired DIY projects.

3) Lastly, is a link to a beauty channel on Youtube. Talia is only 12 years old girl with cancer who is such an inspiration to everyone. She's so adorable and has amazing talent for being only 12.

Have a good weekend everyone :)

The Grammys

Surprise, surprise. I'm here to talk about the Grammys! At first I didn't think I was going to be able to watch them, but after a last minute cancellation of an exam, I happily grabbed my blankets and plopped down on the couch. Overall, I think it was a good show. Any night that involves music and fashion is going to be something I enjoy, but I was definitely impressed by some moments. My favorites being Jennifer Hudson's Whitney Hudson tribute, the ending Paul McCartney collaboration honoring the Beatles, and of course Adele's spectacular performance. I swear, every time I listen to her perform live my brain is stunned and forgets how to work. I'm glad the Grammys honors artists who don't need backup dancers, crazy sets and special effects to deliver an outstanding show. I'm also so happy that Bon Iver snagged the Best New Artist Grammy, even if they've been making me a happier person for years. What did you guys think? Who were your favorite performances?

The fashion in my opinion however, was pretty mediocre. Some of my favorites were Carrie Underwood (when she performed with Tony Bennett), Adele, Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Miranda Lambert. Who were your favorites? I personally wasn't feeling the getups of  Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Fergie, or Julianne Hough. Also, did any one else think there was an abnormal amount of people sporting Bruno Mars hair?

All in all, I enjoyed the night. Kudos to Adele! You deserved every single one of those bad boys.

Bittersweet

When presented with good and bad news I'm the type of person that wants the bad first so I can end on a happier note. So here's the bad news. Being the super busy seniors in college that we are, Lindsey doesn't have the time she wishes she did to dedicate to LALAland. For that reason, the blog is going to taken over by me, Andrea. Don't you worry though. Lindsey will still be sharing her stylish tips with everyone on a weekly basis. We're thinking a post a week so that she's still involved, which is perfect because she has great taste in fashion and beauty and I'm glad that she's still going to be able to share it with you. The good news is that LALAland will be coming back! I'm planning on posting every other day and seeing how it goes. I'm a busy bee as well but I hope to be able to bring you tons of fashion, beauty and lifestyle related posts because I love LALAland and the feedback I get from you guys. So while this post brings some very bittersweet news, I hope you all understand and are excited for what is to come. If you have any ideas for us in the future, please don't hesitate to leave us a comment on here, Facebook, or Twitter. All the links can be found above in the Contact Us tab!
