Effortless Messy Buns

Since the weather in my city has been really hot almost every day this summer, I find myself putting my hair up most days in attempt to stay cooler. I have always loved tying my hair back into a low messy bun, but I hate using tons of bobby pins. I have really long and thick hair so it takes TONS of them to feel like the bun is secure. Luckily, the hair product brand Goody has created a product perfect for this type of hair dilemma. They're called the Spin Pins. I found mine at my local Target for around $6. What you get in the box is two corkscrew looking pins that are the same material as bobby pins and they have different shades to match different hair colors.

To use them I tie my hair into a knot (if your's isn't long enough to do this simply make a bun), and twist one spin pin into the base of the bun until it's concealed. Then on the other side of your bun twist the other pin in. I always twist my pins into an X shape and make sure that when I twist the second one in, it intertwines with the first pin. This way it feels more secure. After this I sometimes add a bobby pin or two to pin in any pieces that fall out or look funny. Using the spin pins allows for a looser, more casual look than a hair tie would. I personally like my buns to lie flatter against my head and I find that the spin pins allow for me to create this look. My favorite time to use this hair style is when I still have damp hair and am in a hurry so there's no time to dry it. The spin pins stay put for the whole day and I absolutely love them! I would definitely recommend getting a pair for yourself.

Happy Thursday!
